ROCKINGHAM — Linda Dawkins Smith, 71, of Rockingham, passed peacefully in her home Friday, Jan. 5, 2023.
Born March 9, 1951 in Richmond County, she was the daughter of the late Curt and Musetta Bethune Dawkins.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Along with being a mother and grandmother, she enjoyed talking and visiting with her beloved friends, watching hummingbirds at her feeder, and drinking a good cup of coffee. She previously was employed at Vista Products, Charlie’s Corner, and Conner’s Convenience Store before retiring.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Michael E. Smith; children, Wanda M. Smith (Bryan Cook) and Amanda S. Thornton; grandchildren, Kelsey N. Butler and Erica R. Harrell; great-grandchild, Rolando Licea; sister, Mary D. Smith (Don); nieces, Casey S. Burnette (Matt) and Melissa S. Kelly (Bo); along with numerous beloved family members and close friends.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023 at Millstone Community Building located at 367 Gibson Nursery Road, Ellerbe with Pastor Ray Morton and Pastor Michael Price officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m.
