Linda Marie Smith McCaskill, 79, of Ellerbe, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023.
She was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Ellerbe, daughter of Grover Cleveland Smith and Lillie Mae Shuler Smith.
Linda and her husband owned and operated Ellerbe Pharmacy, where she spent more than 40 years serving the people of Ellerbe. Linda found joy in gardening and was a lover of flowers and animals. She enjoyed shagging and listening to beach music. She and her husband owned WLWL Beach Music Radio station and spent a lot of their time enjoying the music scene at North Myrtle Beach. She loved people and never met a stranger, making instant friends with people from all walks of life – helping anyone she could.
She was a supportive wife, a caring mother, and a proud grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Agnes Ruggles and Sylvia Lang; and brother, David Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lynn McCaskill of Ellerbe; children, Angie McCaskill (Carl Dawkins), Randy McCaskill (Julia), Timmy McCaskill (Kelsey Bennett); six grandchildren Seth (Emily), Jenna (Mark Allen), Alyssa, Ehlaina, Diana, and Safrina; her dog Buddy; and siblings, Melia Cox, Charles Smith and Emma Delafield.
Services will be held at Ellerbe First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 o’clock in the morning. An informal visitation with the family will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
