Lonnie Bartholomew Skipper Jr., 79, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center, Charlotte.
He was born Aug. 20, 1943, in Richmond County, son of the late Lonnie B. Skipper Sr. and Annie Jane Cook Skipper.
Lonnie was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for more than 35 years. He was an active member of Roberdel Baptist Church and loved his church. Lonnie was an avid sports fan, especially the Richmond Raiders. He also enjoyed fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tilly Ann Skipper; and siblings, Charles Wayne Skipper, Rachel McKenzie, Martha Nell Hollis and Betty Skipper.
Lonnie is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Bryan Skipper, Jason Matthew Skipper, Daniel Alexander Skipper, all of Rockingham, and Lonnie B. Skipper III (Katie) of Albemarle.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 from 2-2:45 p.m. at Roberdel Baptist Church.
The Celebration of Life service will follow the visitation, beginning at 3 p.m., with Pastor Billy Dennis officiating. Burial will be held private by the family.
