OBITUARY: Marcus Dominique Ingram

Marcus Dominique Ingram, 33, of New London, North Carolina, passed away in his home Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023.

Marcus was a son of Mark Jeffrey Ingram and Amy Chewning Ingram and was born Aug. 5, 1990, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Marcus is preceded in death by his grandparents, Norciss Ingram, Betty Chewning, Johnny Chewning and Wilbert Livingston ;and Aunt Clarissa Ingram.

Marcus graduated from Stanly Community College with an associate degree in business. For several years Marcus worked at GHA Incorporated as a direct care specialist. Outside of work, Marcus enjoyed writing lyrics, making music and taking care of his dogs that he breeds. Marcus loved going to the beach and concerts with his family and friends. Marcus was Global with rap battle leagues.

Marcus is survived by his wife, Mary Ingram, to whom he shared a blissful 14 years together before his passing, of the home; children, Nigel Ingram and Marley Ingram, also of the home; parents, Mark Jeffery Ingram and Amy Chewning Ingram; siblings, Peyton Hunter, Jerry L. Hunter, Marquitta Ingram, Asia Baldwin, Dejarez Smith, Naveah Ingram, China Ingram, Gregory Riggins Jr., Danielle Ingram, Naquan Ingram and Isaiah Bennett; second mother, Zina Greene; grandparents, Worthy “Pops” and Frances Greene.

Along with his family, Marcus also leaves behind his godchildren who he loved each of them as if they were his own. Marcus is further survived by Jaylen Champ, Mikah Benson, Mariah Greene, Armani Ponds, Amaya Ponds, Amir Ponds, Carson Denney, Mekhi Parker, Madelyn Brigham and Maleah Brigham.

Marcus was a loving father and husband who will be missed by his family and many longtime, close friends who he called family.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, from 5 to 7p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. Funeral services will commence the following morning at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Chris Thornton officiating the service. Services will be held in the Watson-King Chapel.
