Marie Poland, 78, of Rockingham, ended her journey here on earth Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 and awoke in Heaven surrounded by her loved ones that had passed on before her.
Marie was born Feb. 12, 1945 in Nash County, a daughter of the late William and Myrtle Gardner Parker. She was a devoted member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church and occasionally went to Cordova Baptist Church. For the majority of her life, she was a homemaker. Her family and her love for the Lord were the most important things in her life. She also worked for many years in security at Belk.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby “Carlton” Poland; and brothers Nig and Bootie Parker.
She is survived by her children, David Poland (Tammy) of Derby, Wendy Huggins and Diane Poland both of Rockingham; grandchildren, Brittaney Hair (Zach), Taylor Roscoe (Steven), Jessica Majors (Austin); great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sophia, Addison, Marley, Oaklan, and Baby Majors, which is on the way; and sister, Alma Johnson of Rocky Mount.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Anderson, Marvin Blake and Pastor David Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Northam Cemetery.
Family will greet friends from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
