MONROE — Mark Edward Reaves, age 51, of Monroe, went to sleep and woke up in the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 after a difficult battle with cancer.

He was born at Richmond Memorial Hospital to Horace and Gloria Reaves of Rockingham on Oct. 19, 1970.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Reaves; his four daughters, Kelli Reeves, Jessica Reeves, Cortney Reeves and Brittney Reeves; his mother, Gloria Reaves; his sister, Kim Calvert and brother-in-law David Calvert; his nephew, Brent Calvert; his aunt, Marie Quick; and other loving relatives. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Destiney, Promise, Musik, Travion, Jonathan, Jaycion, Noah, Aurie, Londyn, Paris, Karter and Faith, along with his beloved dog, Gizmo.

In 1989, Mark graduated from Richmond Senior High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. As a U.S. Navy veteran, Mark proudly served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After obtaining skills learned from the Navy, Foundries and Burlington Industries, he went on to work for Valley Protein as a boiler technician. Mark furthered his career at Berry Global for 14dedicated years. He finished his years of work as a dearly beloved senior mold technician and considered his fellow coworkers to be his second family.

On Aug. 11, 2001, Mark married the love of his life, Marilyn. Along with welcoming Marilyn into his family, he welcomed all her children into his heart. He raised all of them with love and acceptance. Mark was beyond dedicated to his family and was determined to provide for them at any cost and to give them the life he felt they deserved. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather!
