ATLANTA — Martha Nichols Harris, 100, of Atlanta, Georgia, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
She was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Rockingham, the daughter of William Cole Nichols and Maynie Credle Nichols of Rockingham.
“Matt” was a graduate of Rockingham High School and attended the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.
Martha was a loving wife to Richard, her husband for 66 years, and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She celebrated her 100th birthday on
Feb. 19 surrounded by her family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Risdon Thomas Nichols and his wife Betty, and her brother Zach Credle Nichols and his wife Helene.
Martha is survived by her loving family, daughter, Martha H. Entrekin of Gulf Breeze, Florida, son, Richard D. Harris Jr. and his wife, Nancy of New Kent, Virginia, son, David N. Harris and his wife, Mary of Boulder, Colorado. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren to whom she was known as “Honey,” Ward Entrekin and his wife, Allison, of Atlanta, Georgia, Dean Entrekin of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and Christina Entrekin Merman and her husband, Brian, of Atlanta, Georgia; and her five great-grandchildren, Greer Entrekin, Trace Entrekin, Cole Merman, Beau Merman and Charlotte Merman.
Funeral services will be held graveside on Saturday, April 1 at noon at Zion United Methodist Church in Rockingham.
