Michael Franklin Taylor, 71, of Hamlet, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 30, 1952 in Richmond County, son of the late Willie Frank Taylor and Hazel Clark Taylor.
Michael served our country in the United States Army. After his military career, he worked with Clark Equipment and North Carolina Natural Gas. He was a proud volunteer with the East Rockingham Fire Department and worked as an arson investigator. In more recent years, he enjoyed visiting and having conversations at Wilson’s Tire Service. Michael loved to fish and especially loved guns — buying them and shooting them. He loved his family and also his dogs. He will be missed by everyone who loved him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan Taylor; and his sister, Patty Carter.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of more than 51 years, Denise King Taylor of the home; daughter, Erica Taylor (Marty Stewart) of Rockingham; sons, Michael Taylor (Angelina) of Cordova and Steven Taylor of Hamlet; grandchildren, Jessica Canter (Chase Coulthard), Gavin Taylor, Charlee Taylor, Kennidy Taylor and Emily Hayes; and sisters, Sylvia Brigman of Rockingham and Gwen Suggs (Benny) of Hamlet.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 from 5-6 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will begin immediately following visitation, at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Park officiating. Burial will be held private.
