ROCKINGHAM — Murtis William Boan, 93, of Rockingham, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Mr. Boan was born in Society Hill, South Carolina, on June 20, 1928, son of the late Wade Loran and Maybelle Kelly Boan.
He was a heavy equipment operator for more than 30 years with CSX Railroad. He attended Abundant Life Church, was a godly man, and loved his church family.
He was a loving daddy and loved all of his family.
Mr. Boan was preceded in death by his parents, Wade Loran and Maybelle Kelly Boan; wife, Rosa Lee Neal Boan on May 24, 2011; one brother and four sisters.
He is survived by his children, Rosette “Country” Trushay Boan of Aberdeen, Janice Fay Boan of Marston, Gail Yannone (Philip Mark) of Rockingham, and Mark Phillip Boan (Debbie Ann) of Marston; grandchildren, Lee “Skeeter Lee” Chavis Boan, Mason Lee Cassidy III, Gary Wayne Cassidy, Rickey Murtis Cassidy, Jennifer Marie Yannone-Walker, Mylee Nicole Cardenas, Jade Abilee Bryant, Philip Mark Yannone Jr., Tabetha Alexandria Cade, Mark Murtis Boan, and Rebecca Lee Boan; 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Abundant Life Church with Pastor Joe Wilkes officiating. The family will greet guests following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 N. US Hwy. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
