Richard (Rick) Wayne Hunsucker, 71, of Cordova, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1951 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Horace Allen and Elizabeth Ann Campbell Hunsucker.
Rick served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from Hamlett Associates in Greensboro. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, boating and the beach. His love was his family and especially his grandchildren. Rick was a lifetime member of the VFW and served as commander for many years.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 2, 2023 at 2 p.m at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with the Rev. Allen Heffelbower officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Rick is survived by His wife of 49 years, Marilyn Hunsucker of the home; children, Ricky Hunsucker Jr. and wife Sara of Laurel Hill, Chris Hunsucker and wife Crystal of Hamlet and Alicia (Mae) Lunceford and husband John of Cordova; grandchildren, Diamond Oxendine and husband Alex, Johnny Lunceford, Cain Hunsucker, Liz Lunceford and Cooper Hunsucker; great-grandchild Wrenn Oxendine; a brother, Mike Bowman of Rockingham; and a sister, Faye Mauldin of Hamlet.
