HAMLET — Riley Lee Watson Sr., 95, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.
He was born Oct. 21, 1927 in Robeson County, a son of the late Frank and Clemmie Elsie Phillips Watson.
Mr. Watson retired as track foreman with CSX and enjoyed volunteering at Hamlet Depot and Museum. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamlet.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Watson; a daughter, Linda Faye Martin; a great-grandson, Garon Benson; five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hamlet with Dr. Allison Farrah officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.
Surviving, a son, Lee Watson and wife Ginger of Hamlet; grandchildren, April Martin of Florida, Michael Martin of Raleigh and Robert Watson of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Jacob Martin, Arrabella Varsi, Dominic Varsi, Tyme Nunn, Jarrett Watson, Addison Watson and Avery Watson; and brother, J.B. Watson of Blairsville, Georgia.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 11, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet.
