OBITUARY: Ronnie Monroe Jacobs Sr.

Ronnie Monroe Jacobs Sr., 75, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond.

He was born Aug. 9, 1948, in Richmond County, son of the late James Monroe Jacobs and Cornelia Smith Cottingham.

Ronnie served his country proudly in the United States Army, serving active in the Vietnam War. He served as a Quad 50 gunner during combat in Vietnam. After serving in the Army, he worked more than 34 years as a long-distance truck driver.

He was a member of Outreach for Jesus. It was known that Ronnie could be quite the conversationalist. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Ronnie has now drove his last mile home to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Frankie Taylor.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Taylor Jacobs of the home; son, Jake Jacobs of Rockingham; grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey, Emily and Wade; great-grandchild, McKenzie; siblings, Candise Leviner (Charles) of Hamlet, Tammy Leviner (Shannon) of Athens, Tennessee, Randy Jacobs and Jessie Jacobs, both of Hamlet; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lois Heaton, Dianne Brigman (Ronald), Peggy Smith (Henry), Marvin Taylor (Wanda) and Chris Taylor; and aunts, Lucille Bennett of Hamlet, Ann Woody (Larry) of Louisburg, and Sylvia Brigman (Max) of Wilmington.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Outreach for Jesus.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park with Bishop Marvin Taylor officiating.
