OBITUARY: Roy Everett Mauldin

Roy “Everett” Mauldin, 86, of Bristol, Connecticut, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at the West Haven VA Medical Center.

He was the loving husband of the late Martha H. (Philipp) Mauldin for 56 years before she predeceased him in 2017.

Roy was born on Aug. 8, 1937 in Rockingham, North Carolina, to the late Steadman and Annie (Gray) Mauldin.

Roy was a decorated Vietnam War veteran, who proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring after nearly 26 years of service. He was a proud American who loved his family and adored his wife, Martha. Roy and Martha moved from their home in San Antonio, Texas to Bristol, Connecticut in 2011 to be closer to family. He enjoyed the time spent with his nieces and nephews and his loving extended family.

Roy is survived by his niece, Brenda Bosse of Bristol and her children, Desiree Piatek and husband, Adam and their children, Addison and Madelyn Piatek, Austin Willoughby and wife Holly and Adrienne Bosse; nephew, James “Eddie” Mauldin and wife Wanda and their son, Thomas Mauldin; niece, Vickie Coley and husband David and their daughters, Amy Nesbury and Kelly Creed; niece, Sandra Dutton and husband Jerry and their daughters, Amber Dutton-Hanlon and Jennifer Feliu; niece, Marilyn Sparks and her sons, Charles Chappell, Darryle Dunn and Ethan Dunn; nephew, Steadman “Ricky” Sparks and wife Elizabeth “Liz” and their son, Charles “Ricky” Sparks, great-niece, Michelle Sparks Ellerbe and great-nephew, Scott Sparks.

In addition to his wife Martha, Roy was predeceased by his son, Raphael Roy Mauldin; his brother, James Thomas Mauldin and wife Virginia; his sister, Annie Hoffman; three nephews, James E. Mauldin Jr., Elmore Sparks and Derrick Sparks and niece, Elaine Chappell.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Richmond County Memorial Park, Rockingham, NC.
