ROCKINGHAM — Ruby Lunceford Coward, 94, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022.
Mrs. Coward was born March 28, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Will and Hattie Lee Lunceford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walker Coward; daughters, Hattie “Sissy” Littleton and Eliza Coward; great-grandsons, Brylan Coward and Kenny Brower; and her brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her children, Robert Coward, Gary Coward (Linda), Kathy Inman, Arleen Chance (Jerry), and a granddaughter whom she raised, Tiffany Coward of High Point; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside of her beloved husband in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will see friends from 1:45–2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the Chance home, 161 Keith Ave., Rockingham.
Ruby lived a simple life and enjoyed shopping trips to Roses and Dollar Tree. She loved her children and grandchildren. She is now reunited with her lifelong soul mate, Walker. We are thankful for her 94 years on this earth. As much as we will miss her, we know she is in a much better place.
