OBITUARY: Ruby Shelley Williamson

Ruby Shelley Williamson, 82, of Spencer, formerly of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Ms. Williamson was born March 7, 1942, in Lando, South Carolina, to the late Carrie Moffitt Shelley.

She was a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church and had attended Rohanen High School. She worked for Miller Brewing Company, Six Bells, Sam’s Club, L’Eggs, Aleo and Safie Mills and Fruit of the Loom.

She was a loving and generous person who would do anything for anyone. She dearly loved her family and friends and was very outspoken. Bingo Tuesday’s were one of her favorite pastimes. The family is grateful for the lifelong friendship of Jackie, Shirley and Topsy, who along with Ruby were the four amigos.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lynch; and siblings, Robert Shelley, Jim Shelley, Billy Shelley, Rufus Shelley, Margaret Bosserman and Betty Dunn.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandy Lytton (Brian) and Diane Arbogast (Joseph); grandchildren, Mellissa Powell, Ashley Lynch, James “Sonny” Lynch, Dejah Broussard, Cary Robertson (Jocelyn), Makala Lytton, Elijah Robertson and Carrie Jo Lytton; great-grandchildren, Jesse Powell, Timothy Powell, Carrie Wanda Powell, Little Sonny Lynch and Amira Pettitt; a brother, Charles Wright (Tammy); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Kashuna Little officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends from 12:45–1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
