Sarah Mae Bailey Baucom, 82, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 at PruittHealth, Rockingham.
She was born Sept. 2, 1941, daughter of the late Vance Bailey and Pauline Marsh Bailey.
Sarah was a homemaker and was a simple lady. She loved sitting at her kitchen table, loved fried chicken, and welcoming family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be missed.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Lewis Baucom Sr.; son, Wilford Lewis Baucom Jr.; brother, Zeb Bailey; and sister, Louise Vuncannon.
Sarah is survived by her children, Barbara Ann Johnson (Ernest) and Michelle Lee Baucom (David Covington), Andy Baucom Sr. (Tina), all of Rockingham, and Melissa Ann Dexter of Port Richie, Florida; grandchildren, Albert Lee Bingham Jr. (Meagan), Michael Lynn Bingham (Jennifer), Justin Allen Bingham (Kellie), William Jordan Idol, Mariah Paige Idol-Everett (Javarre), Mickey Dexter (Vanessa), Mitchell Dexter, Kandi Renee McDonald (James), Johanna Grace Baucom, Andy Nathan Baucom Jr. (Tabitha), Hannah Blair Baucom (Alex), Britany Nicole Baucom (Kelly), and Abby Black; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Northam Cemetery, Rockingham, with Pastor June Grant and Pastor Jonathan Osborne officiating. Burial will follow the service.
At other times, the family will receive friends at her daughter’s home, 120 Colonial Drive, Rockingham.
