Stephen R. “Steve” Buchanan II, 74, of Wallace, South Carolina, passed away Friday, March, 15, 2024.
Stephen is a son of John Benjamin Buchanan and Ethel Curtis Buchanan. He was born Aug. 31, 1949 in Scotland County.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Teresa Avon, David Buchanan, Timothy Andrew “Andy” Buchanan, Lillian McDowell and Betty Hutchison; and a son, John Evert Buchanan. Steve is also preceded in death by his late wife, Diane Malloy Buchanan.
Steve was a Jack of all Trades. He could do practically anything related to fixing up cars. It was a hobby of his that was his absolute pride and joy. Steve was enlisted in the United States Army for several years as a cook and eventually retired from being a mechanic.
Steve is survived by his son, Stephen R. Buchanan III (Sonja); grandchildren, Rebecca Buchanan, Landon Buchanan, J.R. Rushing (Dallas), and Paige Rushing; great-granddaughter, Allie Rose; and a sister, Johnnie Mae Bass; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; and a lifelong friend, George Steen.
Family will receive friends for visitation Friday, March 22, 2024 from noon–1 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet. A memorial service will follow with Terry Jordan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made out to the American Heart Association.
