HAMLET — Steven “Otis” Luther Ransom, 51, of Hamlet, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
He was born Nov. 17, 1971 in Richmond County, son of Thelma Dawkins Ransom and the late Luther Ransom.
For many years, he was known to most as “Otis.” In his younger years, he enjoyed wrestling with some of his friends putting on events. The biggest part of the events for him was seeing all the kids having a great time.
Along with his father, Steven was preceded in death by a brother, John Daniel Ransom.
He is survived by his mother, Thelma Dawkins Ransom of Hamlet; sister, Georgia Williams of Hamlet; brother, Jeff Ransom (Star) of Trinity; niece and nephews, Trisa Turner of Hamlet, Jeffrey Ransom Jr. of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Kyle Lee Ransom (Morgan) of Lexington, and Caleb Ransom of Thomasville.
Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Dawkins Family Cemetery with Pastor Joe Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow the service.
