OBITUARY: Susan Franklin Tibbs

ROCKINGHAM — Susan Franklin Tibbs, 63, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 29, 1960 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Leonard H. and Irene Brigman Franklin.

She graduated from Richmond Senior High in 1978 and RTI with an associate degree in Accounting. She was an active member of 3 Rock Church, serving as the church treasurer, and retired from Richmond County Government as the finance officer. She enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. She often spent time with her close friends who were known as “The Three Amigos.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Tibbs; brothers, Larry and Tim Franklin; and a sister, Shelia Boone.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with the Rev. Joel Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.

Surviving, her brother, Odell Franklin (Donna) of Hamlet; sister-in-law, Debbie Franklin of Hamlet; nephew and nieces, Jamie Boone (Missi) of Hamlet, Dee Dee Clary (Jody) of Hamlet, Shenna Behbehani (Ridha) of Kuwait, Mead Franklin (Yessi) of Jacksonville, Brent Franklin of Hamlet, Will Reynolds of Rockingham, Natalie Johnson (James) of Rockingham, Jennifer Crawford (Joshua) and Christopher Franklin of Indiana; great-nieces and -nephews; and her special friends, Donna Meacham and Karen Benoist of Rockingham.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet and at other times her home, 1909 Fenton St., Rockingham.

Memorials may be made to 3 Rock Church, 103 Shady Wood Drive, Rockingham, NC 28379; or Richmond Co. Hospice, 1119 U.S. Hwy. 1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379.
