Timothy “Timmy” Lee Callahan Sr., 70, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
He was born Feb. 8, 1954 in Hamlet, son of the late Samuel Dewey Callahan Jr. and Anna Earlene Wiggins Callahan.
Timmy served in the United States Marine Corps. In his earlier years, he worked as a roofer and was a hard worker. After working in roofing, he joined Perdue and was known to his coworkers as “Rattlesnake.” He was a wonderful provider for his family.
Timmy loved all animals and was always good to them. He enjoyed fishing and camping as well. He loved people and had many friends. He was family-oriented and loved his family dearly.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Travis Callahan; brother, Samuel Dewey Callahan III; and sister, Anna Pauline “Paula” Callahan.
Timmy is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Wolfe Callahan of the home; children, Tammy Honeycutt of Hamlet, Timothy Callahan Jr. of Rockingham and Samuel Thomas Callahan of Rockingham; six grandchildren; sister, Karen Callahan Gilliam (Joseph) of Rockingham; mother-in-law, Yvonne Swicegood of Hamlet; and brother-in-law, Spanky Callahan of Laurinburg.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Southwood Church, Rockingham, with Pastor Randy Guerry officiating.
