ROCKINGHAM — Velma Mae (Pratt) Hudson, 84, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Ms. Hudson was born Feb. 22, 1939 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Thomas Hudson and Grace Grooms McDuffie.
She was a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church and had retired from Hamlet Federal Credit Union. Her life centered around her children, whom she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Hudson.
Surviving are her children, James “Rusty” F. Pratt Jr. (Teresa), Sherri Pratt Spiece (Neal) and Jeffrey K. Pratt; grandchildren, Ashley Bitner (Noah), Jeffrey Pratt, Amanda “Mandy” Peters (Larry), Will Monroe, Joshua Pratt, Joey Pratt, Jamey Pratt, Jacinda Sizemore (Shane), Dominique Pratt, Thomas Kriston, Mark Kriston and Taylor Spiece; and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. June Grant officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:45–2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
