Wanda Gibson Melton, 62, passed away surrounded by her loving family Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Wanda was the daughter of Norman Gibson and the late Virginia Ingram. She was born in Richmond County June 16, 1960.
Wanda was born and raised in Rockingham, North Carolina. Wanda attended Richmond Senior High School in 1978. Wanda was a passionate and kind woman, she enjoyed many things in life. Wanda loved to bake, so much so that she made a career out of it. With her love for baking, Wanda worked for many years as a deli and bakery manager at her local Food Lion.
Outside of work, Wanda loved going to Cherry Grove beach with her husband, Lee Melton, to whom she was married to for 42 years before her passing. Wanda love animals, hummingbirds and the season of spring. Wanda cherished her family, all of whom will miss her greatly.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Lee Melton, of the home; sons, Kyle Melton (Jewell) and Travis Melton (Crystal) both of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Leighton Melton and Gauge Melton; and her father, Norman Gibson.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Eastside Cemetery. Pastor Tim Hawks will be officiating the service. The family has requested for guests in attendance to come dressed in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made out to St. Jude’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
