OBITUARY: William ‘Mike’ Napier

William “Mike” Napier, 56, of Rockingham, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Aug. 12, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Feb. 4 1967, He was the son of Lois Napier Chandler and the late William H. Napier.

Mike graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1985 and would work for many years at Burlington Industries in Rockingham. Outside of work, Mike loved going to the river and shooting pool.

Like many in Rockingham, Mike loved NASCAR and watching his Sunday races. Mike was the kind of man that knew how to make others laugh. While he didn’t have the patience for fishing, he loved to deep-sea fish with his mom. Mike was color blind, his blues were purples and browns were black. Despite that, he loved his perception of the color orange.

Mike was the kind of man that would do anything he could to help his friends. Mike will be missed dearly by his family and his many loyal, long-time friends.

Mike is survived by his son, Chandler Napier (Katie) of Rockingham; mother, Lois Chandler (Jim) of Rockingham; sister, Linda Smith of Rockingham; and his significant other, Patty Cusack of Laurinburg. Mike
is also survived by many friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. A funeral will follow Tuesday, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Teddy Rabon officiating the service. Interment will be held at Northam Cemetery.

In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made out to the Rockingham Lions Club.
