William Wayne Currie, known to all his family and friends as Bill, left his earthly home on Nov. 20, 2023 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center.
Bill was born May 5, 1950, in Rockingham, North Carolina, to the late Jesse Garrett and Geneva English Currie.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Currie Terry and Peggy Jean Currie; a brother, Carson G. Currie; and nephew, Mike Terry.
Bill graduated from Rockingham High School with the class of 1968. Bill worked for and retired from GE in Wilmington after Clark Equipment Company in Rockingham closed operations in the early ’80s. Bill loved to fish and be outdoors, he especially loved spending time with family and friends sitting on his back porch.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Torri Bailey of Wilmington and Holly Mabe (Keith) of Bolivia; sister, JoAnn Terry of Ellerbe; granddaughters, Rebekah Mabe of Ocean Isle, Charlotte and Elizabeth Bailey of Wilmington; great-grandson, Mason Perkins of Ocean Isle; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that all loved him dearly.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or a special charity of your choice.
