ELLERBE — Zollie Hamm Mabe, 90, of Ellerbe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Mabe was born Nov. 15, 1932 in Richmond County, a son of the late Raymond Henderson and Harriett Carroll Mabe.
He worked for many years with Stanley Furniture Company and later owned a painting business. He was a member of Saron Baptist Church where he was active in the music program. He loved music and could play most anything with strings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren; and siblings, Richard, John, Cicero and Junior Mabe and Gerline Hudson.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Lorine Oakley Mabe; children, Cathy Allred (Tony), Sandra Whitaker (Landis), Gerald Mabe (Mary), Judy Furr, Gary Mabe (Tanya) and Crystal Brixey (Kenny); seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and siblings, Hoover, Roger and David Mabe and Carol McGuire.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022 at Saron Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Luck and the Rev. Gregg Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the Flinty Knoll Primative Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will see friends from 6– 8 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.
