Lemuel Devon Tew, 85, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Bunnlevel, North Carolina, son of the late Lelmon and Martha Byrd Tew.
Lemuel was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Rockingham. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all sports, especially the Carolina Panthers and UNC basketball. In his younger years, he loved to play tennis.
Lemuel was full of life and lots of fun. He enjoyed cooking and dancing, especially shagging. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Tew.
Left to cherish Lemuel’s memories are his wife of 50 years, Hazel Knight Tew, of the home; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Rockingham.
The funeral service will immediately begin, following visitation, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Harris Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Nebo Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Hamlet.
