Phil Edward Dawkins

ROCKINGHAM — Phil Edward “Ed” Dawkins, 84, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1937 in Richmond County, a son of the late Pearson Hill and Gladys Pierce Dawkins.

He retired from CSX Railroad and was a member of the Rockingham Masonic Lodge. He was a 1955 graduate from Rockingham High School where he was a member of the band and played baseball.

He loved flying airplanes, hunting and fishing, the beach, all sports, his “social club” time at the VFW, working the land with his tractors and backhoe and always accomplished anything he wanted to do. He lived life to the fullest and he did it his way.

But most of all, he enjoyed his family, including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
