ROCKINGHAM — Richard “Rick” Earl Mabe, 58, of Rockingham, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.
He was born Feb. 12, 1963 in Rockingham, North Carolina. Rick loved spending time with his family, making people laugh, and playing guitar, and spent all year counting down to Christmas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. Leonard and Bonnie Atkins, Terry and Clarice Mabe; and his brother, Steve Mabe.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Abundant Life Church with the Rev. David Shankle, the Rev. Joe Wilkes and Gary Payne officiating.
He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly — his wife, Jewel Hatcher Mabe; two daughters, Katie Mabe and Erin Mabe Gibson; a son-in-law, Ryan Gibson, and a precious grandchild, Roczen Gibson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Faye Hatcher; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Amy Hatcher, Mitch and Johanna Humphrey, and Frank and Jessica Mims, and son James Mims. He is also survived by his mother, Linda Atkins Mabe; and his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Melek Mabe.
The family will receive friends 11-12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
