Sherrie Joy Abraham Schenck

HAMLET — Sherrie Joy Abraham Schenck, 52, passed away peacefully in her home in Hamlet Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones and family members.

She will be lovingly remembered by her dear husband of 33 years, Jason Lee; her son, Jason Daniel and his wife Alia, her son, Brandon and his girlfriend Alexandrea; and her son Brett and his wife Angel; her grandsons, Sebastian and Tristen; her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Mark Pekol; her brother, George Abraham and his wife Darlene ;and many nieces and nephews. She also had her pet companions: her dog, Halla, and her two cats, Pumpkin Jack and Pretty.

Sherrie was preceded in death by her father, Gordon D. Abraham, and her mother, Betty J. Abraham (nee: Melton).

The family would like to thank Pastor Russell Edwards and his family for the kindness they bestowed upon her family, and also Father Gideon for helping her to walk in Christ.

Sherrie was a ray of sunshine and loved by everyone who knew her. She was a survivor, the world’s best grandmother, and lived her life to the very fullest in her final months.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing with her grandsons, and filling her home with love and laughter. Among her favorite things were celebrating the holidays with her family, visiting the ocean, and planning parties and events for her loved ones. She loved her pets dearly and had a special kindness in her heart for animals. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Rockingham where she regularly attended.

Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend the graveside service which will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet with Pastor Russell Edwards officiating. In compliance with the COVID-19 restrictions, facial masks are required and social distancing is requested.

For those wishing to pay their respects, Sherrie will lie in state Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Sherrie will be greatly missed and loved forever. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 171 Clemmer Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
