The Rev. Thad Louis Pearson

HAMLET — The Rev. Thad Louis Pearson, 79, of Hamlet, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 3, 202, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

The Rev. Pearson was born in Halifax County, Dec. 21, 1941, son of Louis Elmo Pearson and Minnie Sledge Pearson.

He was a pastor of Crossroads Ministries from 1989-2021, and he loved his church as well as his church family; a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war; and an avid sports fan, with favorites being the Atlanta Braves, the Washington Redskins, N.C. State and the Richmond Raiders! His favorite vacation spot was the mountains and he always loved being with his wife and his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will truly be missed!

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 4-6 p.m. at Crossroad Ministries, 130 Apex St., Hamlet.

The funeral will be Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, 573 Battley Dairy Road, Rockingham, with the Rev. Mike Childers and the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

Please wear a mask and continue to practice social distancing at the visitation and the funeral.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cindy Chappell Pearson; daughters, Susan Wilson (Sandy) of Fayetteville, Beverly Demoss of Burlington, Kim Vandermast (Dave) of Rockingham, Jennifer Helms (Chris) of Hamlet and Lori Rogers (Frankie) of Hamlet; son, Thad Pearson II (Anita) of Hamlet; sister, Patsy Towe of Wake Forest; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his dog “Prissy” and his cat “Socks.”
