Thomas Lee Lovin III

ELLERBE — Thomas Lee Lovin III, 74, of Ellerbe, went to his eternal home on March 17, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Tommy was born on March 17, 1948 in Moore County, a son of the late Thomas Lee Lovin Jr. and Ida Culler Lovin.

He was the owner and operator of Tommy Lovin’s Body shop for over 42 years. One of the highlights of his career was painting of Benny Parson’s 1973 championship car.

In addition to his love for NASCAR, was his love for animals. He had all sorts of animals — from horses, goats, chickens and peacocks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Terry, Sammy Lovin and Randy Lovin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Kay Lovin; daughters, Kim Mabe and her husband Tim, Jennifer Richardson and husband Sam; grandchildren, Alyssa Mabe, Natalie Richardson, Olivia Richardson, Sadie Richardson, Samuel Richardson; and sister, Rachel Bowman.Tommy also had many nieces and nephews that he adored.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022 at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Preslar and the Rev. Bill Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:45–1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
