ROCKINGHAM — Virginia Carpenter Harrelson, 91, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Vickie.
She was born June 1, 1930, in Anson County, daughter of Freddy Jackson Carpenter and Mattie Burr Carpenter.
Mrs. Harrelson worked and retired from Sara Lee Hosiery, then went to work at her second job, Richmond Solid Waste, where she continued to work for 23 years — working up until she was 88 years old. She was a person that enjoyed outside work and cut her own grass up to eighty six years old. Her entire life was being a Loving mother to her children and a hard worker.
Survivors include her children, Linda Carpenter of Hamlet, Peggy Singletary and Vickie Davis, both of Rockingham, William Harrelson Jr. of Rockingham and Rodney Harrelson of Mars Hill; sisters, Hazel Johnson of Clearwater, Florida and Margaret Patrick of Hamlet; brothers, Bill Carpenter and Ronnie Carpenter, both of Rockingham; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 1 p.m., Harrington Funeral Home Chapel.
