William David Lonkert Sr.

ROCKINGHAM — Mr. William David Lonkert Sr., 81, of Westside Street, Rockingham, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021.

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Earl Lonkert and Ruth Smith.

Mr. Lonkert also known as “Pops” was a jack-of-all trades. He previously owned Faux Bois Outdoor Concrete Furniture Company and Songs From The Heart Ministry. He loved to travel and help others in need. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 at 3 p.m., at Abundant Life Church, 139 School St., Rockingham. All guests please wear a mask and continue to practice social distancing.

Mr. Lonkert was preceded in death by his first wife and son, Jimmie Nell Barineau Lonkert and William David Lonkert Jr; and a son-in-law, Billy Ray Sewell Sr.

He is survived by his children, Mandy Lonkert Sewell of Aberdeen, Curtis Jackson Lonkert (Penny Lohr) of Sophia, Hope Lonkert (Kidd Escalera) of Pleasant Garden; seven grandkids, Brittany K Howell, Billy Ray Jr. and Amanda Brooke Sewell, Ryan Fowler, Anthony, Jax and Cullen Lonkert; seven great-grandkids, Makayla Brown, Gunnar Bray Sewell, Dawson and Della Rae Woolard, Riley and Dane Howell, and Gatlin Holder; second wife and the mother of two children, Annette Lonkert Farrington of Pleasant Garden; several cousins, nephews, church family and friends.
