William Teddy ‘Billy’ Rickett

ROCKINGHAM — William Teddy Rickett, age 52, known to family and friends as “Billy,” died at FirstHealth Moore Regional-Richmond Campus Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020.

Billy was a son of the late James Robert “Jim” Rickett who died Aug. 4, 2019, and Mary “Alice” Richardson Rickett who died March 18, 2020. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Lee Rickett and Timothy Wayne Rickett.

Billy is survived by one brother, James Tyler “J.T.” Rickett, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Rockingham; plus an extended family of numerous cousins and his church family at Pine Grove Baptist Church where he will be greatly missed.

Being from a military family (his dad was career Army), Billy had experienced living in various parts of the world. Since returning to Richmond County, he had become a caregiver extraordinaire through helping during the illnesses of his brother, his father and his mother. He was also actively involved with benevolent causes supported through his church. A friend to all whom he met, he never failed to share a big smile and exude a positive attitude at all times. He loved animals, particularly dogs, and he loved helping others in any way he could.

Billy will lie in state from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Northam Cemetery.
