Raleigh – Sen. Ralph Hise has pending ethics complaints before the state Board of Elections for a number of campaign finance and ethics violations, including illegally paying himself more than $10,000 from his campaign account and failing to disclose a number of contributions from PACs.
But that didn’t stop him from shepherding through the Senate sweeping changes to the very same state agency responsible for investigating those violations.

PROVIDENCE, RI - It is no secret that professional soccer is not the most popular sport in the United States. It may not even make the top five. For the rest of the world, however, soccer (or football, as non-Americans say) is by far the favorite, especially during the FIFA World Cup.

Raleigh -  NCDP Chairman Wayne Goodwin released the following statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to send North Carolina’s partisan gerrymandering case back to lower courts:
“The court has delayed justice and fair maps in North Carolina yet again.

"North Carolinians have suffered under some of the worst unconstitutional gerrymanders in the country for nearly a decade, paying the price with representatives who repeatedly put partisanship before people.

"Justice delayed is justice denied. We look forward to the day when these unconstitutional districts are gone and North Carolinians will finally get to choose their representatives, instead of the other way around.”

RALEIGH - Republican lawmakers are taking the extreme move to change the state constitution because they’re afraid of the blue wave that’s headed for North Carolina.

Dear Friends,

I am thrilled that my good friend, Mark Harris, is the Republican nominee for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. Like me, Mark is a strong conservative leader and makes no bones about it. This is why I am supporting Mark 100% in his congressional run, and why I’ve donated to his campaign. Would you please join me in supporting Mark with your generous contribution of $25, $50, $100 or more?

Raleigh – County election boards are facing a harsh new choice because of Republicans' unfunded mandate and cuts to early voting: keep early voting on the weekends but cut voting sites or have the usual number of early voting sites but no weekend early voting.

Raleigh – The North Carolina Democratic Party held a press conference to announce it will file a complaint against the Alliance for Fairness in Justice, a dark-money group led by former NC House Republican Caucus Director Jim Burton, for interfering with Democratic judicial candidates and elections. Read the full complaint here.

Raleigh – Republican policies have reversed many health care gains for rural North Carolinians, raised premiums, and threatened key components of the rural health care system, including rural hospitals, according to a new report from Protect Our Care and Rural Forward, a group dedicated to bridging the urban-rural divide chaired by former NC Rep. Bob Etheridge.

Raleigh – The Trump administration is callously ripping families apart at our southern border, separating children from their parents and guardians who are fleeing violence in South and Central America and holding them in cages and tent cities in triple digit heat.

This is a conscious decision by the Trump administration with the complicit support of Congressional Republicans, including North Carolina Senators Tillis and Burr. White House advisor Stephen Miller took full credit this weekend, saying, “It was a simple decision by the administration to have a zero tolerance policy for illegal entry, period.”
