HAMLET — Two days after Brooke Deegan graduated from Richmond Community College in May 2017, she went to work for Dawkins and Associates Insurance Agency in Rockingham, kicking off her career in accounting.

HAMLET — Abdelaziz Aldeek began playing soccer when he was 2 years old. By age 10, he was recruited to play for a European team based in Milan, Italy. Since then, the 23-year-old who was born in Jordan but raised in Kuwait has traveled his way to five continents and more than 35 countries doing what he loves: playing soccer.

HAMLET — Amber Daniels, of Hamlet, earned her Accounting degree from RichmondCC in 2015 and a Business Administration degree and Bookkeeper Certificate in 2016. Currently, she is employed with Anson County Government as the assistant finance officer.

HAMLET — Melinda Murphy’s first go-round with college didn’t go so well, but her second attempt nearly 20 years later put her in control of her future. Murphy is the senior accountant and owner of Murphy & Associates, an accounting business that handles bookkeeping, payroll preparation, tax planning, income tax returns and other services.

HAMLET — Kimberly Sheppard of Laurinburg remembers how she used to message her accounting instructor at Richmond Community College at all hours with questions, and Matilda Davis would always be there to respond.

HAMLET — Drew Coleman always knew he was good with numbers and math, but it wasn’t until he took his first accounting class at Richmond Community College that it all clicked for him. His career path was clearly in accounting and finance.
