If the Supreme Court guts Roe v. Wade, as the leaked opinion implies, then the political landscape going into the 2022 election is almost certainly changed. The election will focus on the impact of that decision and progressives need to take advantage of the new political environment.

RALEIGH — After the well-publicized leak of a draft decision from the U.S. Supreme Court, it appears a majority of the court could overturn the current federal precedent — as laid out in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. The decision is likely to be released in May or June.
OPINION: The McConnell Court
If the leaked memo from Supreme Court is correct, Roe v Wade has been overturned. It’s a bit shocking, even if it was predictable. Conservatives are giddy, even if trying to focus more on the unprecedented leak than the impact on low-income women who can’t afford to travel for health care. Liberals and progressives are outraged.

A draft opinion newly leaked from the U.S. Supreme Court could mean that the justices are poised to leave abortion law to individual states. The leak, first reported by Politico, dates back to February and indicates that the high court may be preparing to overturn or drastically curtail the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision on abortion.
Postpartum coverage extended to 12 months for N.C. Medicaid beneficiaries beginning April 1
RALEIGH — Medicaid postpartum health care coverage will be extended from 60 days to 12 months for eligible people in North Carolina beginning April 1, 2022. Medicaid will also provide 12 months of continuous postpartum coverage to eligible people who are currently pregnant or gave birth between Feb. 1, 2022, and March 31, 2022.
