HAMLET — Regional wrestlers will be facing off inside the squared circle this weekend to raise money to help kids in Richmond County have a good Christmas.
World Class Elite Wrestling will be bringing in two NWA legends for Deck the Jaws, which will benefit the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Shop with a Deputy program.
Ricky Morton, half of one of the wrestling business’ most decorated tag teams, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, will be teaming up with Rockingham’s New Breed to take on George South and Team Pitbull.
Morton was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2006 and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 and has been a part of winning more than 30 titles across multiple promotions since 1983.
South has wrestled for the NWA, WCW and the then-WWF throughout his career in the ‘80s and ‘90s and has several championship title wins in smaller promotions.
New Breed, Trip Stewart and Trey McKenzie, lost their belts to Team Pitbull in August during the Andre the Giant tribute in Ellerbe.

There are several other matches on the card — which is subject to change — including two other championship bouts.
Doors open at the Hamlet Middle School gym at 6 p.m. for VIP ticket holders (first two rows) and 6:30 for general admission, and the opening bell rings at 7:15. VIP tickets are $15 and general admission tickets are $10.

The RCSO Shop with a Deputy program was started in 2020 under late sheriff James Clemmons with money from deputies’ participation in the no-shave program and donations from the business community.
The program has also received donations from the annual Back the Blue Ride and from young soap maker Emma Watts, daughter of Deputy Richie Watts. On Nov. 15, Watts presented a check for more than $820.
