OPINION: Truth and accountability

Congratulations President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris! On Jan. 20, you have the solemn duty of leading a nation. I pray for your success in guiding America.

One of the basic tests of fairness asks the question, “Would you accept the same offer or conditions if our roles were reversed?” So, imagine if Joe Biden experienced the same election margins as President Trump, would he and his party respond differently? Absolutely not! And each of us know this beyond any doubt.

OPINION: Democrats have failed America

Recently, the New York Times reported that 89 million votes have been cast so far in the 2020 election. On Tuesday, Americans will complete the voting process and for several days thereafter, votes will be counted and winners declared.

HAMLET - Patriotism and love for our country and the men and women serving in uniform are alive and well in Richmond County!

Sheri Dunn-Ramsay, director of institutional effectiveness for Richmond Community College, rallied support from Dr. McInnis, president of RCC, and established “Our Heroes’ Tree” as a part of celebrating our local veterans.  Before coming to RCC eight years ago, Sheri worked at the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University and there met one of the founders of Our Heroes Tree, Marlene Lee.  Sheri was so inspired by Lee's selfless service that she conducted this program across her home state of Indiana.

Learning from Life – Cynthia Mejia

ROCKINGHAM - “There I stood on the ledge of the 10th floor feeling unwanted, unfulfilled and thinking how much I let God down.  Ready to end this pain forever I prepared to jump.  Miraculously, I awoke on the floor not knowing how I did not simply fall to my death but knowing that something had to change in my life.”

Learning from Life ...

ROCKINGHAM - I’ve always been fascinated by people older than me.   Listening in amazement as they told stories about what it was like to be a young boy or girl during the Great Depression.  Stories of childhood adventures, adolescent hi-jinks, school days or jobs they held.    I learned so much listening to these stories of life long before my own really began.  This is one such story.
