ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Senior High School’s athletic department announced Tuesday that pre-sale tickets for the football team’s season opener are now available.

Third-year athletic director Rob Ransom confirmed that tickets to the Raiders’ game against Mount Tabor High School on Friday, Aug. 20, can be purchased using the online site GoFan.

Ransom also stated that at the time of publication, there are no seat or ticket restrictions at Mount Tabor due to COVID-19 protocols.

Richmond and fifth-year head coach Bryan Till will start their 10-game regular season with back-to-back non-conference road games against Mount Tabor and David W. Butler High School.

Mount Tabor is the reigning NCHSAA 3AA state champion, and is part of a tough four-game non-conference slate to start the Raiders’ season.

According to HighSchoolOT’s pre-season rankings, which includes the top 25 teams from all classifications in the East and West, Richmond is slotted as the No. 4 team in the East. Mount Tabor is also ranked as the No. 4 team in the West.

Richmond’s three other non-conference opponents include Butler (No. 6 in the West), Cardinal Gibbons High School (No. 3 in the East) and South View High School (No. 7 in the East).

Playing in the newly realigned 3A/4A Sandhills Athletic Conference, Richmond will also face two other ranked opponents in Lee County High School (No. 8, East) and rival Scotland High School (No. 13, East).

Ransom confirmed that the Richmond athletics department will continue using GoFan to sell single game tickets for its home sporting events during the 2021-22 sports calendar. He said that there are also no current ticket sale restrictions in place for home games.

Booster Club memberships are available for Richmond fans, starting at $75 and allow members to be admitted to all regular season athletic events at Richmond, with the exception of varsity football.

Reserved seats for varsity football, Ransom explained, may be purchased at the high school for $75.

To purchase tickets to the Raiders’ season opener at Mount Tabor, set for 7 p.m. next Friday, click here. Adult tickets are $7, student tickets are $5 and children ages five and under are free.

Fans can also purchase tickets on game day at the main gate only. There is a back gate at Mount Tabor, across from a church, that fans can enter, but with online tickets only. The main gate will accept online tickets and tickets bought at the game.

Richmond fans can park in Lots 1 or 2, which are student parking lots, and there is a short walk to the front entrance to the stadium.

The Richmond Observer will publish a full season preview, complete with interviews with coaches and players, later this week.
