FOXFIRE VILLAGE — The Lady Raider golf team hosted four other schools in Monday’s Sandhills Athletic Conference match at Foxfire Resort and Golf Club.

Richmond and head coach Keith Parsons finished fifth in the team score, shooting a combined effort of 190 strokes.

The match was played on the Grey Fox Course, with golfers competing on holes Nos. 1-8 and No. 18 in the nine-hole match.

Pinecrest High School took first (109), followed by Union Pines (146), Lee County (163) and Scotland (177).

Senior Jamie Sears led the Lady Raiders and shot a new personal best round, posting a 55. That score was six strokes better than her first match last week, and three strokes lower than her previous best round from last season.

Fellow senior Abigail Tatum was second on the scorecard for Richmond, shooting a 65, followed by freshman Ella Munn who posted a 70.

Senior Makayla Webb, who joined the team for the first time this season, rounded out the Lady Raiders’ effort with a 71.

“Great round by Jamie; she hit some great shots and held it together throughout her round,” Parsons said of Sears. “I think Abigail and Ella both hit the ball more consistently than they did in the first match, even if their scores didn’t reflect that.

“And shout out to Kayla for competing in her first golf match. We are so glad she’s a part of our group.”

Two of Pinecrest’s golfers were tied for the lowest round at 36, who were Jayden Ford and Kaitlyn Kruczek. Teammate Camilah Porras was one stroke off the lead at 37.

Other leading golfers for their respective team were Faith McCormick (Scotland, 55), Carolyn Coffey (Union Pines, 46) and Sydney Pomeranz (Lee County, 48).

Richmond will play its third match of the season next Monday in Sanford. Golfers will tee off at 3 p.m.
