ROCKINGHAM - After a hard-fought, but sloppy, contest last week against Jack Britt High School, the junior varsity Raiders football team will look to remain undefeated on the season as they’ll host Hoke County High School Thursday night at Raider Stadium.

Last Thursday, Richmond was able to defeat previously undefeated Jack Britt 27-8, despite four turnovers from the offense, including three in the first half by running backs.

The Raider defense, however, would only give up eight points off those mistakes when the Buccaneers scored off a sophomore quarterback Noah Altman interception and converted the two-point conversion. The Raiders also were able to hold the Bucs to three-and-outs on their first four possessions of the game, and seven overall.

Head coach Patrick Hope said after the game that his defense takes pride in stopping offenses.

"They're upset when teams gain yards and score on them," Hope said.

Hoke County is coming off a 30-6 beating from Scotland County High School last week, and will look to bounce back against the Raiders on Thursday.

The Bucks are led on defense by sophomore middle linebacker Kareem Butler and sophomore defensive tackle Dakota Locklear. On offense, Hoke is even younger, but led by freshmen Tory Peterkin at running back, and 6'3" wide receiver Calvin Simpson.

The Raiders will look to continue what they've done all year, which is run the ball using a stable of backs, put it in the air when needed through Altman, capitalize on special teams and kicker freshman Trevor Moss and continue to stop other teams from scoring.

Richmond (6-0, 3-0) will kickoff against the Bucks at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Raider Stadium in Rockingham.
