ROCKINGHAM — The wins keep rolling in for the Rockingham Middle School girls’ basketball team.

Hosting East Hoke Middle School on Monday for another Southeastern Middle School Athletic Conference contest, the Lady Rockets remained undefeated with a dominating 46-13 win.

Now 7-0 on the season, head coach Teresa Mason and the Lady Rockets extended their winning streak to 18 games dating back to the start of last season.

Rockingham relied on the offensive production of seventh grade point guard Jamyia Lindsey and eighth graders C’Niya Hinson and Keyoni Nichols to put away the Lady Eagles.

Lindsey led the team in scoring for the second time this week, putting in 14 points, outscoring East Hoke by herself. Hinson and Nichols completed the scoring punch with 10 points each, the only other Lady Rockets to hit double figures.

MaKailah Jackson got in on the scoring mix with four points, while teammates Neziah Crump, Fallon Dowdy, Jasmine Jennings and Tenaziah McNeil each added two points.

The Lady Rockets defense kept East Hoke in check, holding them to seven first-half points, and not allowing the Lady Eagles to score a single point in the third. The visitors added their final six points in the fourth quarter.

Hinson and Nichols paced Rockingham in the first quarter, each scoring six points on three field goals apiece. Lindsey chipped in her first four points on a bucket and two free throws. Jennings capped the 18-point quarter with a bucket in the paint.

Fourteen more points in the second quarter opened the game up for good for the Lady Rockets. Lindsey followed her stat line from the first but added another field goal. Hinson ended her scoring with two more baskets.

Dowdy joined the scoring outburst with her lone two points, while Jackson got on the board for the first time, connecting on a field goal.

At the break, Rockingham held a 32-7 lead.

Another strong scoring performance in the third extended the Lady Rockets’ lead to a game-high 35 points. Rockingham added 10 points in the frame behind four points each from Lindsey and Nichols, while McNeil connected on a field goal.

East Hoke outscored Rockingham 6-4 in the final period, but the game was nowhere in reach for the Lady Eagles. Crump and Jackson scored the final points of the game for the home team.

Mason and company will continue their trek toward their eighth SEMSAC title in the last nine years when they continue conference play Monday at home against Sandy Grove Middle School. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
