Missing child found ‘quickly’ by Richmond County deputies, K-9

HAMLET — A child who went missing Sunday was found “within a matter of minutes” after a search began by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release, deputies responded to a call of a missing juvenile on Battley Dairy Road.

Once on scene, they reportedly set up a perimeter and began searching the area where the child was last seen.

Sgt. T.D. Bowman and K-9 Spike began a track and located the child in a wooded area with thick brush “within a matter of minutes,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say the child was “checked out” and soon returned to the parents.

“Thankfully the parents called 911 quickly and the quick response by deputies resulted in a great outcome,” the end of the release reads.
