ROCKINGHAM – With an early-season “rivalry week” settling over Richmond Senior High School, the Lady Raiders varsity volleyball team deflated No.1 foe Pinecrest High School in straight games Tuesday night.

ROCKINGHAM – As the Richmond Senior High School boys soccer team opened Sandhills Athletic Conference play Monday night, it accomplished two goals: returning to the win column and successfully preparing for one of the biggest games of the young season.

ROCKINGHAM – To beat the best, you have to play your best. That wasn’t the case for the Richmond Senior High School Raiders football team Friday night, as they hosted the reigning 2016 4-AA North Carolina state champion Wake Forest High School.

ELLERBE – Birthday celebrations are annual events that spotlight the person turning one year older. But for one local seventh grader, whose tiny frame holds such a large and caring heart, her birthday is about helping people who need more than she does.

ROCKINGHAM – When you’re playing well, not only is it fun, but wins often find their way into the record column. And for the Richmond Senior High School Lady Raiders volleyball team, they improved to 5-0 on the season, sweeping Purnell Swett High School in three straight games Thursday.

ROCKINGHAM – It took until the the fourth game for the Richmond Senior High School boys soccer team to experience defeat for the first time this season Thursday night. In an all-around poor effort by the Raiders, Richmond (3-1) fell to visiting Pine Forest High School (4-2) by a tally of 5-1.

ROCKINGHAM – For Richmond County Schools’ teachers, principals and central office staff, the start of Monday’s classes can’t come quickly enough. But before they head to their classrooms, RCS held its annual convocation ceremony Thursday afternoon in Richmond Senior High School’s cafeteria.

ROCKINGHAM – Despite another slow start, the Richmond Senior High School boys soccer team found some late match lightning in a bottle to propel them to a 3-1 victory Wednesday night against Union County’s Central Academy of Technology and Arts.
