HOFFMAN — One of the convicts who escaped from Morrison Correctional Institute on Monday had nearly two months left on his sentence before breaking out.
According to online records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction, 18-year-old Josh Ashworth was scheduled to be released Aug. 30.
He was convicted March 7 of larceny of a motor vehicle in Wake County.
Ashworth’s probation had also been revoked on previous convictions:
Felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and breaking and entering vehicles in Alamance County; and
Three counts of breaking and entering vehicles in Wilson County.
Records show Ashworth was also convicted of: two counts of misdemeanor larceny in Vance County; and larceny of a motor vehicle in Alamance County.
In 2017, Ashworth was also convicted on two felony counts each of breaking and entering and larceny over $1,000 in Wake County.
His record also includes several infractions while incarcerated:
Records show he was moved to Morrison from Polk Correctional Institution on April 2.
Brandon McDurmon, 22, was scheduled to be released on May 5, 2020, records show.
He was convicted April 16 of possession of a firearm by a felon in Person County. However, records show his only other felony convictions — breaking and entering and obtaining property by false pretenses — were on the same day. The RO is seeking clarification on this information.
McDurmon was also convicted Jan. 31 of misdemeanor larceny and unauthorized use of motor conveyance.
Records show McDurmon was initially admitted at Polk, then sent to the Dan River Work Farm, and was transferred to Morrison on June 13.
He also has three infractions since being incarcerated:
Both men were last seen at breakfast Monday morning between 6 and 7 a.m., according to prison officials.
Anyone who sees Ashworth or McDurmon, is encouraged to call the prison at 910-281-3161 or the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
