ROCKINGHAM — A Montgomery County man facing drug trafficking charges in Randolph County is accused of sexual abuse in Richmond County.

According to an arrest warrant, 30-year-old Antonio Gonzalez, of Candor, engaged in sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old in April of 2024.

The warrant, charging Gonzalez with statutory rape of a child 15 years old or younger, was issued Sept. 18. He was arrested Jan. 31 by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Richmond County Jail at 3:23 a.m.

Jail records show Gonzalez is also charged with two counts each of trafficking in opium or heroin and trafficking in cocaine in Randolph County.

(Note: Court records for those charges could not be found online the afternoon of Feb. 3.)

Gonzalez is being held on a combined $650,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in district court Feb. 13 on the Richmond County charge and had a superior court date for Feb. 3 on the Randolph County charges.

Gonzalez appears to have no prior convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
