ROCKINGHAM — Two other men suspected of a late-August robbery have been charged.

Online court records show both 42-year-old Daniel Lee Gathings and 24-year-old Dawson Blake Abrams were arrested Oct. 5 and charged in connection to an Aug. 26 robbery. Another suspect, 25-year-old Andru Bryson Deberry, was arrested on Sept. 23.

The three men are accused of beating up the reported victim and stealing a 2006 Dodge Ram, a Yamaha Raptor four-wheeler and an iPhone 15.

Like Deberry, Gathings and Abrams were each charged with: common law robbery; two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle; felony conspiracy; and assault and battery.

Abrams is also accused of stealing a 2008 Cadillac DTS from the same victim, as well as forging a DMV form and selling the stolen truck for $1,000 on Sept. 8.

Abrams faces an additional count of larceny of a motor vehicle, as well as charges of altering a title, identity theft, obtaining property by false pretenses and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Records show Abrams was issued a citation for resisting an officer the day he was arrested for allegedly running from a deputy attempting to serve him with warrants.

Deberry is still being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $160,000 secured bond.

Gathings is being held on a $25,000 secured bond related to the robbery charges, as well as a $500 secured bond on a charge of giving fictitious information to an officer for allegedly telling a trooper with the N.C. State Highway Patrol in 2025 that his name was “James Gathings.” The warrant for the latter arrest was issued Aug. 12, 2026.

Records show Abrams was given a $50,000 secured bond, but posted bail on Oct. 6.

Abrams and Gathings are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 14 on charges related to the robbery. Deberry’s next court appearance is slated for Nov. 12. Abrams also has hearing Oct. 29 for the resisting charge.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Gathings has the following prior convictions:

2003 - accessory after the fact of any felony
2009 - possession of drug paraphernalia
2010 - two counts of simple assault
2017 - two counts of selling a Schedule I controlled substance

2020 - identity fraud or theft, obtaining property by false pretenses

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
