ROCKINGHAM — An 18-year-old and three younger teens are charged in connection to the midday robbery of a local retailer.

According to investigators with the Rockingham Police Department, Qua’mari Roweswain and the three juveniles walked into the Richmond Plaza Smoke Shop on Dec. 31 and immediately jumped across the counter and started stealing merchandise.

An arrest warrant mentions vapes and prerolls valued at $700.

Investigators say the individual working in the shop at the time tried to stop them and all four suspects attacked him.

Roweswain and two of the juvenile suspects reportedly fled from the store, but one was locked in until police arrived, according to investigators.

Police reportedly apprehended all suspects the same day.

Roweswain was arrested and charged with one count each of common law robbery and felony conspiracy. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held on a $25,000 secured bond.

His first court appearance was Jan. 2 and his next is scheduled for Jan. 8.

Police say the three juveniles, whose names are not being released because of their ages, have been charged and are in custody at the Cabarrus Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
