ALE investigating Rockingham store

ROCKINGHAM — State agents spent several hours at a local store Wednesday afternoon — but the question of why still remains.

Agents with N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement driving unmarked vheicles were at the Triple O Mini Mart on Long Drive, with the Rockingham Police Department helping to secure the scene.

A spokesperson for ALE told the RO in an email that the agency “is not allowed to release any information since it is an active ongoing investigation.”

A search of records with the N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission shows that permits for off-premises malt beverage, off-premises unfortified wine and off-premises fortified wine were issued on June 2, 2024 and canceled on Dec. 3 — the same day agents were on site.

The manager is listed in records as Yassin Said.

Other ABC Commission records show the store was offered a 20-day suspension, avoided upon payment of $2,000 on a charge(s) of selling or giving alcoholic beverages to an underage person.

That case was heard on Nov. 13, 2024, along with 68 others from across the state.

The RO will have information when it becomes available.
